Friend of Charles Dickens and Elizabeth Gaskell, author of ‘The Woman in White’ published in 1860 and considered to be the first mystery novel, and ‘The Moonstone’ in 1868 said by some to be the first English detective novel.

Wilkie Collins died at home in Wimpole Street and is buried in Kensal Green Cemetery, Harrow Road, W. London.
